Per Diem - Lititz, PA

Updated: 7 days ago

It’s been a little while since we’ve updated here - but we’re back! I still haven’t posted about the meals Alex and I had in New York, but that will come eventually.

Until then, though, Graham, Jonathan, and I had dinner recently at Per Diem at Rock Lititz. A bit out of the way but it was worth the drive.

The restaurant itself is relaxing and unpretentious. It was a great way to end a Sunday. Per Diem isn’t on Open Table, but they are on Resy. We made reservations for 7:30. The restaurant is open until 10 pm, so we had plenty of time without worrying we were going to get in the way of closing activities.

I regret not capturing our drinks in photos. Graham started with an Old Fashioned, and I had a delightful Lemon Mic Drop. I'm usually not a fan of flavored vodkas, but this drink was a refreshing way to close a warm day. After tasting Graham's drink, I ordered an Old Fashioned for my second round – a smoky version, which Graham also opted for.

We began with two starters. First, the smoked cauliflower bites. I'm a sucker for cauliflower bites, and these were exceptional—slightly smoky with a hint of heat, making for a great opening dish. Next, we had one of the evening’s specials: pork belly. It was an excellent choice, and the plate was spotless by the time we were finished.

We each went with a different main. Jonathan had the Mediterranean Salmon, Graham went for the Shrimp Scampi, and I had the Grilled 8 oz Sirloin. Everything was delicious. I’ll speak for my dish - the sirloin was done to a perfect medium rare. There were so many potatoes, and they were a little on the dry side, but the blue cheese butter on the steak helped a bit with that.

For dessert, Jonathan had the Vegan S’mores Pot de Creme. It smelled amazing! Just like a toasty s’more fresh off the campfire. Graham and I each had a Yuzu Pie. The yuzu was fairly subtle but the pie was topped with raspberries, which I adore.

Even better than the food was the service. Our server, Louise, was fantastic. She was attentive without being hovering, and we enjoyed our conversations with her. We had a great time.

Between the service and the food, I’m looking forward to going back to Per Diem. I’d like to try their Sunday brunch at some point in the near future.
